Hidden Crack Recovery Center

Kenyatta and I went to his favorite Thai restaurant-JOYA (mine is Pam's Real Thai Food). As we walked out he told me that the nondescript place next door is actually a covert daytime Crack Recovery Center for addicts. I have been here countless times and I can't believe I never noticed the people who walk in and out! There are so many building in NYC with no signs, doorbells, and numbers - that I wonder what else is around me. That's the beauty about living here - you can walk down the same street every day and notice something new - a new tag, new store, new sign, new neighbor, new restaurant, and new addict recovery center. The city never ceases to amaze me with its ability to constantly reinvent itself.

Why is this Metallic craze hitting NYC so hard! Is it this bad in the suburbs? Or are these uncouth suburban girls in NY?

RULES FOR WEARING METALLIC:
1. don't match your metallic bag with everything else metallic.
2. only 1 piece of metallic at a time please
3. don't wear metallic accessories with metallic makeup - I know the Cover Girls show differently - ignore them.
4. big ass metallic bags like these are actually blinding!

Williamsberg Hipster in Fort Greene for 1-Night Stand

I'm sitting at my local coffeeshop in Fort Green on a lovely Saturday afternoon, when I spot this guy on the left who looks like he was a hipster helicoptered in from Williamsburg and abandoned in Fort Greene. How can I tell? Come on - what male wears a mullet, tight straight legged jeans and sleeveless vintage Ramones shirt with pointy toed cowboy boots on a freakin Saturday in Brooklyn?
So Kenyatta and I were trying to figure out what he was doing here - so our theory is that this guy is her one-night stand and this is the morning after where they get coffee. They seemed to be very awkward when they walked in -soooo what I'm wondering is if she noticed his pointy toed cowboy boots the night before.

Old School Breukelen

An Etymology lesson today: Brooklyn used to be called Breukelen. Dutch colonists named if after one of their towns in the Netherlands.
