Tantek let's Us Borrow Blankets

Haight and ash, SF, CA
tantek is funny. He's still mad at me that I commented on a good pic of Liane's Flickr to photoshop the "guy" out (http://www.flickr.com/photos/52998728@N00/202587140/) , and then he found the photo with my comment. I like him even though he resents me still. www.flickr.com/photos/tantek/233589831/

Riding the Bart in SF

san francisoc, CA

Bart, oakland, CA
For as diverse as SF is, it still is not as common to see a high or even ratio of black people. I am sitting on the Bart and the whole entire train is filled with Asians and a few whites. It's been weird riding the Bart b.c I am used to riding NYC subways and seeing lots of diversity and that includes lots of blacks. But here, it doesn't seem as mixed. When this Black couple sat down and they were speaking loudly, these 2 old Asian women sitting in front of them (who were also speaking loudly in cantonese), blatantly looked at them and immediately their faced showed discomfort and they walked up all the way to the other end of the train to sit in new seats as the train was still moving. . It was so obvious that the black couple made them uncomfortable. I was so embarassed, I looked at the black couple and shook my head and smiled. They said to me, "You're not scared of us are you." I said, "give me a good reason first." We laughed. The next pic shows the women and the very asian train
