Happy Pinapps Holidays Tricia!

Happy Pinapps Holidays Tricia!

This is my X-mas Eve Holiday celebration. I eat at least 1 whole pineapple a day in Beijing. It costs 8RMB ($1) for a whole pineapple and my pinapps man carves it also!!! In NYC its costs $12 for a pretty sour tasting pinapps.

so I bought 4 of them - and this should prepare me for my X-mas climb on the Great Wall tomorrow!

I feel very happy - I actually don't feel lonely or sad at all that I am alone on X-mas Eve. I have no TV on right now - just posting this blog and I am going to go eat more pineapples, listen to Death Cab for Cuties and read my book.

Hugs and kisses to myself and all of you who are reading this.

It's Christ-mas Eve - and the whole city is out partying celebrating this very misunderstood holiday. You know in the West it's a time for family to gather, whether you celebrate Chrismas or not. I think we are all just so happy to have work off you know? but here it's really about consuming and partying. That's why I write Christ-mas - to remind us that it's really about Baby Christ's miraculous birth - or it's "mas" tiempo with the family - depending on which way you swing - I go with the latter considering that I am not really a Christian.

KFC WHAT WHAT? - on X-mas?

I walk down this street EVERYDAY morning and night - and literally overnight this KFC was built and opened on X-mas eve. Here we have a Chinese Santa Claus handing out KFC coupons while the KFC speakers is blasting Alleluiah and Deck the Halls. The restaurant is full of people - with pretty long lines.

This is pretty much Beijing in a nutshell - overnight highrises and new stores are built just as quickly as old hu-tongs and streets are torn down. So don't get too attached to any street or neighborhood, because it will probably disappear within a few months. I am not kidding. David told me this when I first arrived and now I understand.

well while these people spend tonight at KFC, I will go home and eat my pineapples.
