I am sitting here at the AFRICAWIREDHip-Hop Digital Youth REmix Film Screening.
Unfortunately, I can't find anything uniquely "Africa, Hip-Hop, Youth or Digital" about anything I've seen or heard.
The DJ on the right hasn't played ONE piece from Africa - Roots and Tribe Called Quest doesn't count. The spoken word poet just yelled at the audience for being priveldged enough to watch these films - and that we should go to Africa and help the starving children. Fuck you. The last thing a performer should do is yell at their audience and make them feel guilty for attempting to empathize with your "artistic ass." Why is your poetic ass not in Africa - why are you in Chelsea NYC at a new media arts gallerytelling us about the "starving children?"
The previous film was about how South Africans worshop Dead Prez.I just don't accept that African Hip-Hop is all about a Hegemonic Western Imported Hip-Hop model where Dead Prez rules. Anyways the lead rapper of Dead Prez, M-1, gave my friend chlamydiawhen they were monogamous. hmmmm. And he denied it when she confronted him about it. Now how righteous is that?

The family of late Smurf Creater, Peyo, approved of the new first adult-only Smurfepisode. UNICEF produced this piece to be shown in Belgian after 9pm. This is part of a fund-raising drive by Unicef's Belgian arm to raise £70,000 for the rehabilitation of former child soldiers in Burundi.
Did you know the Smurfs were invented by Belgians? now they have given us the bloody Smurfs.
