Creating Myself in Second Life

Finally Linden Labs fixed my account after weeks of calling them! So now that I can actually play with my own avatar, I've become glued to my chair trying to recreate myself.
I had no problems creating my squinty eyes. And I am excited to create my flat chest, short legs and lean figure. However, I felt an unconcious pulling when I found myself creating my nose.
I am finding myself unconciously creating the nose that I've wanted all my life, versus the Chinese-flat mose that I've been born with. The nose details get so specific here, that you have to decide the angle of your nose tip, shape of the nose tip, lenght and width of the nose bridge/upper & lower bridge, division of your nostrils, thickness of your nose and etc.

I realized that hey - I could have that plastic surgery vicariously through second life and have that beautiful petite, perfect Western nose that I've seen on models since I was a little girl.

But I've decided to embrace my flat nose. There's something that forces you to either embrace or abandon your body through the physycal process of creating your avatar. One can either love their big ass or create the bony ass we've been sold. I've chosen to embrace my flat nose and flat chest. I would love to watch kids of all ages from different ethnicites create their avatar. It reminds me of the experiment of giving black and white barbies to a mix of black kids and white kids - and all the kids unsurprisingly chose the white doll. Creating your avatar in second life can be such a more powerful way to talk about ethnicity, features and critically talk about it in realtime.

I'll post my finished second life me after I get some time to tinker with it.

I haven't seen Samanta since 2000 - it's been 6 years!!! Samantha is now a pharmacist - congrats!
Finally we can be friends. Freshman year was horrible b.c Sam would never leave our dormroom. She was the worst roommate anyone could ever have - and I got stuck with her.
but now we can be friends!
