Lights Out Dinner
Wangfujiang - Beijing China
After a days of work - I took the train to Wangfujiang Walking St to wander around the Hu Tongs. I really wanted to eat at one of the little restaurants inside the hu tongs - but they really just looked too unsanitary for my weak americanized anti-bacterial immune system. so I chose this restaurant - a relatively low key place - where I paid $1 (8RMB) for a full meal.
My waitress is from Hunnan Province.
half way through dinner, the electricity on the street went out. All the little shops closed - but we just kept eating away as they lit candles for each table. No one made a fuss about eating in complete darkness. I have a hard time beleiving that if this were to happen in the States, that people would have been just as easy-going.
